On August 23rd, on of Shirley's close friends, Sybil Jason, died. She was 83.
In 1939 she appeared with Shirley in The Little Princess and The Blue Bird. She later maintained that Shirley's mother, Gertrude, insisted the studio cut her most dramatic scenes in Blue Bird so that she would not outshine her daughter.
